No 'well-known' artists in Turner prize shortlist

The short list for this year's Turner Prize is being revealed in anticipation of the December award ceremony.

The BBC Arts Editor Will Gompertz told Today presenter Mishal Husain, "None of the shortlisters are well known. There are no painters, sculptors or traditional artists. All four British artists use collage in one shape or form."

He continued, "There 's Duncan Campbell who makes semi-fictional films, Ciara Phillips who creates screenprints and textiles that form part of a bigger installation, James Richards edits video incorporating YouTube and pre-existing films and also Tris Vonna-Michell, who conducts complex multi-layered stories presented live or represented audio-visually."

First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Wednesday 7 May 2014.
