Midwife unit 'safe' for low risk pregnancies, says NICE

Women with a "straightforward" pregnancy are being encouraged to give birth in a midwife-led unit instead of a traditional labour ward.

New guidelines from the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) also suggest a home birth may be just as safe for low-risk pregnancies.
