Cancer research: Improving early diagnosis rates 'key'

More must be done to diagnose cancer patients faster, a leading specialist has said.

Professor Peter Johnson, Chief Clinician at Cancer Research UK, said efforts should be focused on catching cancer early, instead of preventing the NHS from taking on too many patients.

A Department for Health spokesperson said they were investing an additional £750 million over four years in to tackle late diagnosis and improve access to treatment.

First broadcast on BBC Radio 5 live's Shelagh Fogarty programme on Tuesday 10th June.
