Aspirin 'no longer recommended' for heart problems

Aspirin is to no longer be recommended as a treatment for common heart problems, the National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (NICE) has said.

Dr Campbell Cowan, chair of NICE's Guidelines Development Group, told the Today programme that blood-thinning drugs known as anticoagulants would be a better alternative for the "vast majority" of people.

First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Wednesday 18 June.
