Organ donation: Families of deceased 'feel safer saying no'

People wishing to donate their organs must better communicate their intentions to family members, the director of organ donation and transplantation at the NHS has said.

Sally Johnson told the Today programme that families often block organ donations after a loved one has died because it "feels safer to say no".

Her comments come as NHS Blood and Transplant data shows the number of organ transplants is continuing to rise, but that the UK still lags behind other countries.
