Gene discovery 'sheds new light on schizophrenia'

The discovery of over 80 previously unknown genes related to schizophrenia "provides some immediate insight" into the problems that may be experienced within the bodies and brains of people with schizophrenia, according to a new report.

Scientists found more than 100 genes that make people more susceptible to schizophrenia- 83 of which have never been pinpointed before.

Michael O'Donovan of the Cardiff University School of Medicine, the lead author of the report which was published in Nature, explains the signification of its findings.
