NHS 'must fundamentally change', says Simon Stevens

The NHS must "fundamentally change" aspects of how care is delivered in order to ensure it can maintain high standards, NHS England's chief executive has said.

Simon Stevens argued that the NHS must "think like a patient" and "act like taxpayers" when managing resources.

A five-year plan for the NHS - called the NHS Forward View - highlighted that an annual £30bn shortfall would open up by 2020.
