NHS funding: Lib Dem Lamb calls for funding boost to prevent 'crash'

Up to £1.5bn of extra funding for the NHS in England should be found before the general election to prevent a "crash" in services, the Liberal Democrat Health Minister Norman Lamb has said.

He urged the Chancellor, George Osborne, to pledge the money in next month's Autumn Statement - and make it available from next April.

Mr Lamb told the BBC's Hugh Pym that England spends less than the European average on healthcare but that it needed further resources to ensure it remained "the best system globally".
