Hospitals 'struggling' with A&E targets

The NHS in England has missed its Accident and Emergency waiting time target for every week of this winter.

Hospitals are meant to see 95% of patients in four hours, but have failed to do so since the start of November.

The latest figures come as an independent report says even the best hospitals in England are seeing patients waiting longer for key services.

The government says the pressure on hospitals will ease once plans for more community-based services come into effect.

Hugh Pym reports.
