Report says adults & children should eat 50% less sugar

Scientists are expected to recommend that adults and children in the UK halve the amount of added sugar they eat and drink, in major report to be published later.

The Scientific Advisory Committee on Nutrition will say only 5% of daily calories should come from what are known as "free sugars", which include sugars found naturally in honey and fruit juice.

That's the equivalent of seven teaspoons a day for adults.

Adam Brimelow reports.
