New cancer strategy recommended to improve care

NHS patients in England should get results for cancer tests within four weeks of being referred by a GP under new plans to improve treatment of the disease.

That is one of the key recommendations of a taskforce set up to ensure the NHS provides world class cancer care.

The strategy aims to save 30,000 lives a year by 2020.
