Preventing diabetes 'a no-brainer'
The charity Diabetes UK is warning that a dramatic increase in the number of people diagnosed with diabetes over the past decade is putting a huge financial burden on the NHS.
More than three million people in the UK are living with the condition. The majority have type 2 diabetes which is linked to obesity.
The chief executive of Diabetes UK, Barbara Young, told the BBC that many people were unaware that the condition can lead to serious health problems, including blindness and amputations, and describes doing more to prevent the disease as a "no-brainer".
