The man with a new face after 'world's most extensive' transplant

A US firefighter, who suffered severe burns while attempting to save a woman, has a new face after undergoing the world's most extensive facial transplant.

Patrick Hardiman was in surgery for 26 hours and the facial tissue was donated by David Rodebaugh, who was fatally injured in a cycling accident.

The operation took place at the NYU Langone Medical Center and was led by Dr Eduardo Rodriguez.
