Junior doctor strike would have profound impact, says NHS Employers

A ballot of junior doctors closes this afternoon, which could lead to the first all-out strike in NHS history.

The British Medical Association has balloted 45,000 junior doctors in England about changes to their contracts.

The Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt has warned that patient care will be put at risk if the strikes go ahead in December.

NHS Employers chief executive Danny Mortimer said the changes would improve working conditions.
