Waiting times 'getting worse' as winter pressures on NHS grow

Waiting times in A&E departments across the UK are worsening as pressures grow in hospitals, according to figures from the Royal College of Emergency Medicine.

The data shows 88% of A&E patients were treated or admitted within four hours - below the 95% target.

Some hospitals also reported problems discharging patients, with up to a fifth of beds occupied by patients ready to leave hospital, but who cannot be discharged due to a lack of community services.

The BBC's health correspondent Dominic Hughes reports.
