Should you worry about painkiller heart risk?

The increased risk of heart failure from taking common painkillers should not be over exaggerated, says an expert on the drugs.

A study has found that non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as ibuprofen and naproxen and diclofenac, are linked to an increased risk.

But Helen Williams, a consultant pharmacist with the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, tells Today that the risk is “not an issue” for younger people taking the drugs infrequently.
