'Care system could be in crisis'

The prime minister is understood to be considering plans to allow councils in England and Wales to increase council tax to fund the social care system.

Martin Green the Chief Executive of Care England, the body which represents independent care services, told the Today programme smaller care providers will "work themselves into the ground" and they will find money "taken away from them".
