Integrating health and social care 'uphill battle'

The government's spending watchdog has said that attempts to integrate health and social care have so far failed to save money, or reduce hospital admissions in England.

Ashley McDougall, director of the National Audit Office, said that ministers were "too optimistic" and taking on an "uphill battle" trying to improve services through integration.

He told the Today programme there were questions about whether more integration was the answer for the NHS.
