UK quarantine: How do I quarantine after returning from abroad?

Before you travel to the UK, you must have proof of a negative coronavirus test and then you must go into self-isolation for 10 days after you land.

Travel from certain 'red list' countries is banned completely, external unless you are a UK resident.

One in five eligible passengers will be called or texted to check they are following the rules.

There are fines of up to £1000 for breaking the rules, rising to £10,000 for persistent offenders.

The UK government says it plans to introduce mandatory hotel quarantine for some travellers - similar to schemes seen in Australia and New Zealand - but no start date has been announced.
