Living with the 'invisible pain' of endometriosis

One in 10 women in the UK suffer from endometriosis, a condition which causes cells like those that line the womb to develop in other parts of the body.

It can cause chronic pain, heavy periods and infertility - and there is currently no cure.

Women have shared their deeply personal experiences of living with the condition, describing it as an "pure hell" which is often misunderstood or dismissed - including by some doctors - as bad period pain.

It comes as a parliamentary inquiry concluded that urgent improvements are needed in the care given to those living with endometriosis.

MPs are now calling for the government to cut average diagnosis times in half from the current average for eight years to four by 2025.
