From Tiananmen to Occupy: Shen Tong's life of protest

This week the world marked 23 years since the Chinese crackdown in Tiananmen Square. On Monday, China detained political activists and placed others under increased surveillance in cities around the country to prevent them from marking the anniversary.

Hundreds died when the Communist Party used the army to crush pro-democracy protests in 1989. After the graphic scenes were beamed around the globe, an undisclosed number of people were rounded up and arrested.

But others escaped. Tiananmen veteran Shen Tong now lives in the United States and more than two decades after the events in Beijing he is demonstrating for a different cause: Occupy Wall Street.
