Preserving US presidential campaigns on the web

Several US groups have begun collecting and digitising each sign, picture and video linked to past and present US presidential campaigns in the hopes of preserving them future generations.

In New York City, the Museum of the Moving Image has digitised and archived each television campaign advertisement dating back to 1956.

Two political curators of the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History have travelled to each major Republican and Democratic rally and convention since the late 1980s, picking up materials linked to the presidential campaigns.
