Amazing acoustics turn water tank into recording studio

The remote mining town of Rangely in the US state of Colorado sells itself as a great place to live, though there is little for young people to do.

Samantha Wade clings to the community's one unique attraction: an abandoned industrial water tank with incredible, long-echoing acoustics inside.

The BBC spoke to Wade and her grandmother Barbara Wade - the keeper of the tank's keys - as well as Bruce Odland, who first discovered the secret sounds.

The tank has been a draw for musicians from around the world since the 1970s. On the day the BBC visited, Dexter Payne, Rekha Ohal and John Stubbs were playing inside.
