This is according to new findings by the non-partisan Pew Research Center and Council on Foreign Relations poll, America's Place in the World, conducted every four years of both the general public and opinion leaders.

Their survey also found that many American foreign policy concerns are closely intertwined with domestic issues such as jobs and energy.

One area where Americans do support more international involvement is in strengthening economic partnerships across the globe.
