UK floods: A day in the life of a flood zone publican

A pub in the middle of the flood hit area of Staines-upon-Thames has become the focal point for a community battling the elements.

The Wheatsheaf and Pigeon is a safe haven for anyone in need - offering shelter and assistance to weather-weary locals.

Built in 1870, the pub itself was flooded in 1947 when winter snows melted and caused many rivers across the UK to burst their banks.

The BBC spent 24 hours at the pub following manager Becky Brooks as she co-ordinated everything from phone charging to clothes washing, in what some are describing as a spirit not seen since the Blitz.
