MH370: What does US news get right?

Since Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 disappeared, television news programmes in the US have devoted generous amounts of airtime to the mystery.

Viewers have responded well, providing good reviews and surging ratings for both cable and network news broadcasts.

The large-scale coverage comes as the Pew Research Center's Journalism Project releases its 11th annual State of the Media Report looking at trends in news consumption.
