The first fridge for a family and whole village

A tailor from Calcutta buys his first fridge - the first person in his entire village to do so.

Only one in four households in India own a fridge. Santosh Chowdhury's modest two-room hut is now one of them.

Having dreamed of owning a fridge for the last 10 years, its arrival is a great occasion for both him and the village of Rameshwarpur.

"Ours is the first generation to own a fridge in my family," Santosh says. "No one in my father's and grandfather's time had ever seen one."
