Photographer captures the changing landscape of North America

Canadian photographer Scott Conarroe spent much of his 30s travelling around North America and photographing the landscapes he encountered along the way. Living out of a camper van and shooting on a large format view camera, he would work in the north during summer, and head south in the winter.

He found himself drawn to the railways and coastlines that shaped the history and geography of present day North America.

Conarroe's new book of photographs, By Rail and Sea, brings together his work from this period. He says he aspires to look back in time by photographing the railways, while his photographs of the coastline seek to record a landscape that is forever changing.
