'Bigger, badder, better': Why we love our pick-up trucks

Pick-up trucks are usually associated with the American West, but the rugged, outdoorsy archetype exists north of the US border too - and the Canadian version drives a truck as well.

But does everyone behind the wheel of these huge vehicles really use them to haul heavy objects or to explore the wilderness?

When BBC Pop Up asked our audience for story ideas, one Canadian said he wanted to know whether, in reality, the back of most pick-up trucks are usually left empty.

So when we got to Edmonton we decided to try to find out.
