Palestinian doctor turns personal tragedy into dramatic play

The real life story of the Palestinian doctor who lost his children when Israeli shells fell on his home in Gaza, has been turned into a play.

Called I Shall Not Hate, after Dr Izzeldin Abuelaish's memoir of the same name, the performance is both heart-wrenching and life-affirming.

It's part of the Mosaic Theater Company's Voices from a Changing Middle East Festival, which is being held in Washington.

The BBC's Jane O'Brien went to meet the doctor-turned-playwright to hear his tale.

Edited by Bill McKenna. Filmed by Markus Zeffler.
