The runner who triumphed after losing his sight

Kenyan athlete Henry Wanyoike was a promising able-bodied distance runner but in his early 20s, he lost his sight overnight and his life changed forever.

It took him years to accept but eventually he began to run again.

Henry Wanyoike reached the pinnacle of his sport when he won the 5,000m at the Sydney Paralympic Games.

He spoke to Witness about those Paralympic Games, and the legacy he is creating for the next generation of Kenyan athletes.
