Apple Watch 'excites' Instagram boss Kevin Systrom

A smartwatch without a camera may not seem like an obvious choice of device to run a photo-sharing app.

But Instagram boss Kevin Systrom says he is "excited" about his company's app for Apple Watch, which will be available when it goes on sale in April.

"We're really excited to see where the technology goes," he told Newsbeat.

Facebook, Uber and Chinese messaging service WeChat are among other apps which have been developed for the device.

Apple has announced it will go on sale on 24 April and it will range in price from £299 to £13,500 depending on the model and strap combination.

Other manufacturers have struggled to sell smartwatches in large numbers, with a lack of available apps and poor battery life among the drawbacks.
