Paper mill cleaning system blamed for polluting Baikal
A Russian pulp and paper mill widely criticised for polluting the world's deepest and oldest is worrying Unesco.
Lake Baikal, a World Heritage site, holds one fifth of the world's fresh water and is home to many unique plants and animals, but the mill's management denies doing any harm to the environment.
Alexei Maltsev, a technician working at the mill, showed the BBC the plant's wastewater cleaning facilities and said the water that went from the plant into the lake was "clean and clear".
