Marine census: Hawaiian sea life

The mammoth Census of Marine Life is due to publish its final report on Monday.

The decade-long project involved more than 2,000 scientists from 80 countries.

It is hoped the census will lay the scientific foundations for marine policies to protect vulnerable habitats.

During the 10 years of the project, researchers filmed footage of all types of ocean-dwelling life from some of the smallest specimens to the most unusual and spectacular.

These videos were gathered from the waters around Oahu, the largest of the Hawaiian islands.
