Mediterranean's changing wetlands

The Mediterranean Wetlands Initiative was created 20 years ago in Grado, northern Italy.

It was the first specific focus of the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands.

Under the umbrella of the Mediterranean Wetlands Initiative (MedWet), more than 350 specialists from countries in the region recently came together in Agadir, Morocco, to discuss the challenges facing these unique ecosystems.

Athenian Thymio Pappayannis is one of the original members of the Mediterranean team and has observed the changes to the wetlands of the Med over the last two decades.
