Penguins' private life revealed by time-lapse cameras

Researchers have used time-lapse cameras to study the private life of penguins during Antarctica's harsh winters.

The team from Zoological Society of London (ZSL) and the University of Oxford used 16 cameras to record gentoo penguins at the Brown Bluff Antarctic Peninsula and King penguin colonies at Salisbury Plain in South Georgia.

Here, Dr Ben Collen from the Penguin Lifelines project describes the penguin activities that they managed to capture on camera.
