Peru pelican deaths investigated
The Peruvian government's Institute of the Sea has said it found nearly 500 dead birds, mostly pelicans, along a 43-mile (70km) stretch of coastline.
The birds were found close to where 700 dolphins washed ashore earlier this year and investigators are looking at a virus or seismic oil exploration as a possible cause.
Officials say tests suggest the birds died on the shore in the Piura and Lambayeque region over the past few days.
