Launch success for SpaceX mission

A commercial rocket has blasted off to take supplies to the International Space Station for the first time. The SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launched from Cape Canaveral in Florida.

It was the second attempt, as its first attempt on Saturday was aborted because of an engine fault. The launch marks the start of a new era in US space activity.

Until now, only the space agencies of America, Russia, Japan and Europe have been able to send supply ships to the International Space Station.
