Rhino horn DNA database set up to counteract criminals

A new DNA database is being set up to hold genetic information on all the rhinoceros horn in the UK in an attempt to stop its theft and trade.

In the past two years, there have been at least 20 crimes involving antique horns or live animals in the UK.

The database aims to tag each horn in museums, zoos and private collections - so criminals cannot pass off poached specimens as antique.

Matt McGrath reports.
