Hedgerow decline threatens wildlife

Hedgerows in Britain are in decline with their numbers halving since World War II.

They form a vital part of the countryside environment providing shelter and food for many birds, animals and insects.

The Canal and River Trust is hoping to restore almost 1,000km (620 miles) of hedgerows.

John Maguire reports from East Yorkshire, to find out why hedgerows are disappearing.
