Jupiter and Venus conjunction lights up morning sky

The two brightest planets, Jupiter and Venus, are currently aligned in the sky, forming a spectacular "double star" in their closest conjunction since 2000.

Dr Caitriona Jackman, a planetary scientist from the University of Southampton, told the Today programme that the best time to see the planets is in the hour before sunrise and that the conjunction will be visible "quite low above the horizon in the east-northeast direction" for the next couple of days.
