Virgin Galactic pilot recalls colleague's crash

Eight months after Virgin Galactic's space plane crashed in the Californian desert killing one of the pilots, his British colleague has talked exclusively to the BBC about the accident.

Dave Mackay was just a few hundred feet away in another aircraft as the spaceship broke up.

With the official accident report due out later this year, the company is under pressure to prove that space flight for ordinary people is still a realistic goal.

The BBC's transport correspondent Richard Westcott spoke to Mr Mackay in an exclusive interview.
