Edinburgh gardens wait for 'smelly' giant plant

Excitement is mounting at Edinburgh's Royal Botanical Gardens, where the titan arum is expected to flower in Scotland's capital for the first time.

Also known as the corpse flower, it is one of the biggest - and smelliest - blossoms in the world.

Senior horticulturist at the gardens, Sadie Barber, said the opening of the plant was part of its ''amazing strategy''.
