Look around a Met Office Civil Contingency Aircraft

When a volcano erupted in Iceland five years ago, it caused a cloud of ash over Europe which halted flights for several days.

The UK government has given the go-ahead for a new network of sensors and specially-equipped aircraft.

The initiative, involving airlines, the Civil Aviation Authority and weather forecasters, aims to keep people moving next time around.
