COP21: What is carbon capture?
Negotiators from 196 countries are trying to reach a deal at the climate change conference in Paris to curb global warming.
A draft deal was reached last week but key issues still remain, including a long-term goal to reduce emissions from burning coal, oil and gas.
One way of preventing carbon dioxide building up in the atmosphere is carbon capture and storage.
The rapidly evolving technology separates carbon dioxide from waste gases and then stores it underground, for example in old oil or gas fields.
BBC environment correspondent Matt McGrath enlists the help of Cambridge University's Professor Jerome Neufeld and Dr Bryan Lovell to show how the process works.
