DIY science on the Irrawaddy River

Delft University of Technology's Thom Bogaard (R) and Rolf Hut (L) have been showing students in Myanmar how to build low-cost instruments to monitor the behaviour of the Irrawaddy River.

At its most basic, this involved a pile of coconuts, lots of coloured balloons and some bike lights. Thom and Rolf spoke with our science correspondent Jonathan Amos.
