Inside an electric car charge point factory

The government says 2011 could be remembered for being the year that electric motoring takes off.

Since the start of the month it has been paying a subsidy of £5,000 to people who buy an electric car.

To test out the government's premise, reporter Brian Milligan is this week attempting to drive an electric Mini from London to Edinburgh, using only public charge points.

But will the network be up to the job?

Before he set off, Brian Milligan visited the factory of Elektromotive, a company that produces charge points.
