Consumer tributes to Steve Jobs of Apple

Consumers have been paying their tributes to the achievements of Steve Jobs, the co-founder and former chief executive of US technology giant Apple, who has died from cancer at the age of 56.

The company has also released a statement honouring ''Steve's brilliance, passion and energy'' which were the source of ''countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives''.

He introduced the colourful iMac computer, the iPod and the iPhone to the world. His death came just a day after Apple unveiled its latest iPhone 4S model.
