OFT threatens crackdown on in-game app fees

Some phone app providers are breaking consumer protection law by encouraging children to pay for games on mobile phones and tablets, the Office of Fair Trading says.

The consumer watchdog says basic versions of the games are often offered free of charge, but paid-for content items are often aggressively promoted in-game.
