Former online dating scammer 'sorry' for stealing £30k
A former scammer says he is "very sorry" for stealing £30,000 in two years from victims on dating websites.
Using a fake online profile, Abayomi Aje from Lagos, Nigeria, targeted people by researching their interests to fake "chemistry".
Once the relationship had formed, he would ask the victims for money by pretending to be in financial trouble.
Mr Aje, who has since stopped the practice, told BBC Radio 5 live's Victoria Derbyshire: "For someone to tell you they love you, then realise they don't... it's a very painful thing. I regret my actions."
